Full of charm and fresh sounds, Blues-rockers MASK have once again proven their incredible Glam-Rock talents.
Smiling Assassins, their latest release, is instantly comparable to legends such as Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane. Gritty guitars and crunchy organs sitting under H’s shady yet smooth vocals make for the perfect Bluesy Rock single.
Sparked by tragedy, MASK leader H Humphrey escaped the world and civilisation for a stint in Peru. Inspired upon his return, the talent approached producer Michael Mormecha and asked if he could come in and make a new MASK record. They instantly got to work, making magic and bringing us a truly stand out single Smiling Assassins.
The track has a deeply authentic feel to it, with lyricism inspired by a tale of a friend’s betrayal by someone close to them. Embellishing a few facts, the band have managed to create a cheeky, infectious song they can surely be proud of.
MASK combines the talent of leader H Humphrey (guitar/vocals) hailing from Belfast, with life long friend and Liverpool living Craig (guitar/vocals). Together they work in harmony, unafraid to admit they are far from your typical rockstars.
Working dad’s who somehow find time for music, the duo are unapologetically uncool, which is perhaps what makes MASK so authentic and honest. Qualities rarely attributed to many musicians on the scene.
Unique, Bluesy and gritty, Smiling Assassins is a huge accomplishment for MASK and certainly NOT one to be missed.
