At just 15 years old Nakeia Tay is probably our youngest ever Sound of the Underground.
The multi-talented singer-songwriter has been making music since the age of just 8. Now a talented R&B songstress, Tay draws inspiration from artists such as Beyonce, Aaliyah, Rihanna and more.
Nakeia Tay is talented beyond her years, with an incredible belting voice and endless flair and style, the young star is this week’s Sound of the Underground.
The youngster spends the majority of her time working on music, writing everyday, and deepening her knowledge of the music business.

“I also enjoy making youtube videos and I currently have over 900 subscribers.”
We caught up with the young talent to find out a little more about her, her music and what we can expect to hear from her in the future.
So tell me, how did you first get started in Music?
“Since the age of one I have shown my love for music in many ways from singing in the church youth choir to performing at local events.”
When did you begin writing music?
“Around the age of eight I wrote my first song. Soon after, Dazz and Brie, formally known as Girl Gang, reached out to me. They had heard I had written my first song & told me they were starting to produce music.
After a few studio sessions, I then released my first ever single Me Forever. Soon after, I released three more singles titled Storm Tonight (August 2016), 1st Heartbreak (August 2017), and Dear Policemen (March 2018), which were produced by billboard music producers Rock Jackson.
I constantly push myself to not only accomplish my goals, but also to stay out of my comfort zone. With this mentality I was able to release my first ever EP, Feels. The EP features 5 original tracks that were written, produced, arranged, and recorded by myself with the help of Pat Washington.”
Who inspires you to make music?
“I draw my inspiration from Tori Kelly, Beyoncé, and Jhené Aiko because of their knowledge in the music business, their unique songwriting skills, and their work ethic.”
What’s next for you as an artist?
“I have been extremely focused on new projects and I have been doing a lot of hard work behind the scenes. Currently I am working on a new single that will be releasing soon.”
