Talented artist James Fox is back and better than ever, ready to bring us a stand-out new album titled ‘All the Fours‘ on February 5th.
Few have had a career as eclectic as that of James Fox. His music career has seen him release two Top 20 UK singles, represent the UK in the iconic Eurovision Song Contest and perform in lead roles on four West End and Broadway shows.
These creative achievements are enough to satisfy a lifetime, yet new album ‘All the Fours‘ could just be James’ greatest success yet.
We were fortunate to get a preview of the upcoming album, a 12-track line-up of motivating, driving and guitar heavy tracks.
‘All the Fours’ is packed full of passion, intricate instrumentation and addictive melodies. With no two tracks the same, ‘All the Fours’ firmly establishes James Fox as a truly versatile artist.
Combining elements of Rock, Country and Blues there is truly something for everyone on this intriguing album.
Opening track ‘Nightfall’ is a hefty beginning for the album; guitar-heavy, driving and gritty, ‘Nightfall’ is bursting at the seams with energy and movement. Atmospheric in its tone, ‘Nightfall’ is full of crescendos and intensity and is a stunning opening to the ‘All the Fours’ album.
Lead track from the project ‘The Rest of Our Lives’ has a distinctly lighter tone. Full of bright guitars and some gritty-good vocals, ‘The Rest of Our Lives’ has a sunny and positive feel to it. The track tirelessly tugs at our heart-strings, embodying a country rock take on the classic love song that’s a certified mood booster.
Another Rhythm Radar favourite from the ‘All the Fours’ album is the ballad ‘Lifeline’. This track is smooth, sultry and perhaps slightly sad. The track is the definition of anthemic, with deeply emotional and captivating undertones.
It’s tracks like this that demonstrate James Fox’s immense musical ability, with the artist able to bring us grooving singles, guitar-driven rock tunes and even smooth piano ballads to boot. We couldn’t ask for more from the ‘All the Fours’ project.
James Fox explains how the ‘All the Fours’ album came to fruition:
“This album was written during a year that most of us were forced to stop. I rediscovered music again and started writing songs for the first time in years. The songs needed to come out, it felt like it was writing itself from time to time. I started getting very reflective and sifting through my past for the first time. It was therapeutic in many ways but also exhausting, upsetting and difficult.
I have been as honest as I can possibly be with the lyrics on this album and have talked about everything from my issues with gambling, loss of family, friends, the music business, my own demons and fears, right though to hope, finding new and real love and happiness and everything that was in between. I’m putting myself out there with total honesty for the first time. It’s dedicated to my good friends Susan and Russ, who are sadly no longer with us but I could not have done this without them. This album is a snapshot of time that I’ve managed to capture. It’s about me, my life so far, all 44 years of it. I hope people enjoy the journey!”
‘All the Fours’ truly is a journey; a rollercoaster ride of musical ups and downs that has the listener hooked.
The album is set for release on February 5th and is NOT one to miss.
