Himmelskygge Adds a New Chapter to LAWO Classics’ Vocal Catalogue

LAWO Classics’ Himmelskygge brings a new contemporary vocal project to the label’s catalogue. The album, released digitally in May 2026, features mezzo-soprano Hege Høisæter in a programme that places Norwegian song within a wider field of electronics, piano, and ensemble colour.

Jorunn Marie Bratlie appears on piano, while Kari Telstad Sundet contributes electronics and a major composition of her own. Tov a Vot adds the sound of Vetle Nærø on piano and keys, Theis Jakob on bass, and Ola Grindbakken on drums.

The heart of the album is Sundet’s The Drift, a setting of texts by Emily Dickinson. The cycle’s blend of acoustic and electronic elements reflects the release’s larger character, where traditional vocal writing meets more exploratory sonic design.

The programme also includes music by Olav Anton Thommessen, Carl Gustav Sparre Olsen, Theis Jakob, and Gisle Kverndokk. Produced by Vegard Landaas, engineered by Thomas Wolden, and designed by Blunderbuss, Himmelskygge will appear as LAWO Classics
