Internationally acclaimed Cuban classical guitarist Laura Mazon Franqui is using her growing platform to highlight the richness of Hispanic and Latin American music. Her recent Times Square appearance placed that mission in front of audiences from around the world.
The Miami-based artist was featured in a national campaign with Karat, a financial platform created for creators, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. The campaign showed Mazon Franqui performing guitar and promoted her newly released debut solo album, Rojo.
Rojo is centered on works by composers connected to Hispanic and Latin American musical traditions, including Leo Brouwer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tárrega, Joaquín Turina, Jorge Morel, Carlos Rafael Rivera, and Claudia Montero. The album reflects both Mazon Franqui’s technical artistry and her personal connection to the repertoire.
Mazon Franqui has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Cuba. As a performer, educator, recording artist, and advocate, she continues to expand the audience for classical guitar while keeping her Cuban and Latin American heritage at the center of her artistic voice.
